HISTORY
«La Voz Amiga» is a non-profit organization founded in 1972 dedicated to listening, accompanying and comforting those in need through the management of a completely free telephone line in Peru that is open 24 hours a day, with anonymity and confidentiality. Our mission is to be a beacon of hope and understanding for all, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, religious beliefs or economic status.
Our unwavering commitment is to reach out to those who are going through a
difficult time of loneliness, suffering, helplessness or mental health thanks to the generosity and availability of our volunteers, who come from diverse professional backgrounds, enriched by their own experiences and properly trained.
In the last ten years we have responded to more than 330,000 calls from people.
Our mission has been a source of hope for more than half a century, marking five decades of service where we have managed to be a safe harbor for many
Peruvians who are going through times of adversity.
Our vision is to be the most recognized accompaniment through an anonymous, free, confidential and personalized listening service for moments of sadness and problems of any kind for people of any age, sex, belief or social condition in Peru, to contribute to having a healthy and happy society.
WHAT WE DO
La Voz Amiga is dedicated to listening, accompanying and comforting those who need support through the management of a free and anonymous telephone line.
The work of the volunteer at La Voz Amiga transcends beyond answering calls, it is a commitment to serve, listen with empathy, understand without prejudice and establish a warm conversation with each person who seeks our support,
regardless of their age, gender, ethnic origin , beliefs or social status. They invite you to open your hearts, to share your concerns so that you can chart your own path towards the recovery of peace and hope.
Our volunteers go through an in-depth training process to receive comprehensive training in management and listening, in addition to learning to manage their emotions to support others, thanks to personal development tools, so that the help they offer is truly effective.
We collaborate closely with other allies and institutions, weaving a support network that allows us to refer to specialists when more specific care is needed.
A study highlights an alarming reality: in Peru, eight out of ten people suffer from mental disorders such as depression, anxiety, stress, among others, without receiving adequate treatment. This finding prompts us to strengthen our work as a front-line service for our compatriots, providing them with a safe haven through our toll-free telephone lines. Our goal is to guide them to maintain a healthy connection with their environment and the people around them, in all areas of their lives.

If you are good at listening and want to generate a positive impact in Peru,
we invite you to register as a Listening Volunteer. After a selection process,
we will provide you with the necessary training to make your help effective.
